A writing skill is a set of specific skills and knowledge that are necessary to do well in the discipline of writing. Writing develops across different disciplines, genres and forms as part of language or discourse.
Writers often use their abilities at many other tasks—reading comprehension; creative thinking; problem-solving; persuasion through rhetoric, logic and ethos; articulation for public speaking purposes etcetera… but these tasks require differing competencies both within the individual writer’s profession/discipline(s) as well.
