WHS Induction: Outdoor Power Tools

Outdoor power tools like brush cutters and whipper-snippers can fling up objects like sticks, stones and glass at high speed. To avoid accidents and keep the workplace safe for operators, fellow workers and the public, there are certain precautions that must be taken when working with outdoor power tools. This Outdoor Power Tools induction module highlights the risks associated with using outdoor power tools and lays out some simple risk control measures that can be implemented prior to operating any outdoor power tool to minimise the risk of injury. Once the course is completed, you will have learnt the types of hazards associated with outdoor power tools, how to conduct a pre inspection of the area you are working on, and tips for operating an outdoor tool in a manner which maximises your own safety. This course is one part of a 50 part WHS Induction series aimed at new inductees and existing workers.
