Stereotypes are over-generalized beliefs about a particular category of people. Stereotypes are generalized because one assumes that the stereotype is true for each individual person in the category. Everyone within an organization has a responsibility to ensure that the work culture promotes a professional work environment by demonstrating appropriate behavior.

When we perpetuate stereotypes about people based on things like their appearance or where they come from, that’s unprofessional. It’s disrespectful. And, it may often be prohibited by policy.
