Mentoring others is an essential component of organizational success. It’s everyone’s job to make sure we create a workplace that is respectful. Respect comes from adhering to our policies, using professional behavior and language - as well as being consistent, transparent, and open to cross-gender mentorships.
Results from a recent LeanIn.org survey found that 60 percent of male managers are uncomfortable participating in a common work activity with a woman – such as mentoring, working alone, or socializing together. The survey also found that 1 in 6 men are reluctant to mentor a woman.
