The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP): The Private Flood Insurance Rule

This elearning course, The Private Flood Insurance Rule, will cover how and why the rule was approved by The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). We’ll discuss how original concerns around the fiscal stability of the NFIP led to the passing of the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 and its intended purpose of stimulating the private flood insurance market. We will also discuss the Rule that was approved in 2019 and look at how it implements provisions of Biggert-Waters while bringing clarity to the legal standards around lenders’ acceptance of private flood insurance.
