STCW – Security Awareness Training

Target Learners: The course is aimed at all seafarers engaged in any capacity onboard a ship, and candidates looking for employment at sea.

This program is designed in accordance with the principles stipulated in the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), and the ISPS Code, that all maritime training institutions must meet when providing training.

Learners (Organisations) remain responsible to ensure that their flag state regulators have approved this course for operations under the particular Flag State Regulations.

The ISPS Code is implemented through chapter XI-2 Special measures to enhance maritime security in the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).

These requirements are stipulated in the STCW 2010, Manila Amendments, and are in relation to the requirements of the ISPS Code.

The ISPS Code applies to ships on international voyages (including passenger ships, cargo ships of 500 GT and upwards, and mobile offshore drilling units) and the port facilities serving such ships.
