Removing Non-Value-Adding Activity

Every process in an organization either adds value or removes it. Customers don’t pay for non-value-adding (NVA) activity. It is wasteful and should be eliminated. This course is part of the Improving Efficiency Pocketbook series, a series that provides tips and techniques on how to analyze and improve your processes to save time, money, and resources. In this course, you’ll learn how to use a flow charting method called ‚Äúoperations flow charting” or OFC to identify non-value-adding activities and to design more efficient processes. After taking this course, you’ll be able to create an OFC diagram, diagram your work processes to identify NVA activity, and apply a simple set of questions to guide process improvement.
