Radiation Safety: Radiation Protection

This course provides a comprehensive overview of radiation protection principles and practices, focusing on minimizing exposure to ionizing radiation through the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) approach. It covers time, distance, and shielding strategies, along with the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as lead aprons, thyroid shields, gloves, goggles, and respirators. Participants will learn about engineering controls, including radiation shielding materials, safety interlocks, remote handling systems, and warning systems designed to maintain workplace safety. By the end of this course, learners will understand how to implement effective radiation safety protocols to protect workers from radiation hazards while maintaining regulatory compliance.
