Process Safety Management: Overview

This is an awareness level course to help employees understand Process Safety Management (PSM), a comprehensive risk-based approach designed to protect employees by preventing unexpected workplace hazardous chemical release. You will learn what’s covered in the OSHA-issued regulation as well as some exceptions to the standard. In the course, we’ll discuss the specific program requirements of companies that produce or use dangerous chemicals. We’ll also share the 4 principle causes for the release of hazardous chemicals and present you with examples to illustrate them.

This course illustrates PSM program components that contribute to a culture of safety in your workplace. The knowledge you acquire will help you understand OSHA’s Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals regulation (Title 29 of CFR Section 1910.119).
