Personal Protective Equipment – Respiratory Protection: Respirator Selection

This course extends its focus to the certification processes conducted by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Participants will gain insights into the crucial role of NIOSH in determining the type of respirator required based on workplace exposures. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of accurate analysis and evaluation of respiratory hazards, including estimating potential exposures, identifying contaminants, and understanding permissible exposure limits. Furthermore, the course explores key scenarios necessitating the use of respirators, such as oxygen-deficient atmospheres, unknown atmospheres, chemical safety data sheet requirements, exceeded permissible exposure limits, and company policies.
