Neurodegenerative diseases are a group of disorders characterized by the degeneration, or loss, of neurons, which are the main cells of the nervous system. When caring for clients with neurodegenerative disorders, make sure to attend to their special needs and assist them with movement, self-care, personal hygiene, communication, and food or fluid ingestion.
