Medical – Fire Safety and Patient Evacuation Overview

This overview lesson will make you aware of the responsibilities that you and your employer have for safely preventing and responding to a fire at the health care facility where you work. In addition, you will learn how to correctly select and use a fire extinguisher to safely contain and extinguish a fire, how to protect yourself, your coworkers, patients, and health care facility visitors in the event of a fire related emergency, and how to follow your employer’s emergency action and evacuation plans.
