Lockout/Tagout (LOTO): Overview

Take this course to learn about the purpose and procedures behind lockout/tagout requirements, which are designed to protect employees working with and around hazardous uncontrolled energy sources. Lock and tag devices are attached to equipment indicating that a employee is repairing or maintaining that equipment.

In this course, we’ll help you understand why lock and tag rules are in place and how to match roles and responsibilities for work designations that are included in lock and tag regulations. You’ll also learn how to identify hazardous sources of energy and the possible consequences of improper control. There are different types of lock and tag devices which we’ll identify in this course. There are also some exceptions to lock and tag requirements and we’ll explain the criteria for these and the situations that apply.

This course is recommended for managers and employees who work in facilities where they come in contact with machinery or energy and fuel sources that could be hazardous.
