Leadership and Power: The Bases of Power

As a leader, it is important to understand where your power comes from - something we will discuss in the elearning course, The Bases of Power. In this course we will review the six bases of power, define what a base of power is, and discuss why you need to be aware of where your power comes from. We will look at the six different bases of power - legitimate, reward, coercive, expert, referent, and informational - and explore the differences between organizational and personal bases. Finally, we will talk about different situations and the type of power base you should use for each.
