Healthcare: Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP)

This course provides critical information for healthcare employees about bloodborne pathogens (BBP), specifically Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV), Hepatitis B virus (HBV), and Hepatitis C virus (HCV). You’ll begin by reviewing the characteristics of these viruses and the symptoms of infection. Next, you’ll learn how these viruses are transmitted and what precautions you can take in the workplace to protect yourself and others from infection. The course also discusses the requirements and components of OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030), and explains what to do in the case of an accidental exposure to any of these bloodborne pathogens.
