Genitourinary: Performing Urine Testing

Urine testing is a type of urinalysis where urine is checked for several chemical properties. Urine testing is easy to perform, and it is typically used for clients receiving medical care in their home or in long-term facilities where more detailed laboratory testing is not available. Based on your authorized duties, tasks and the facility policies, a nursing assistant can perform urine testing under the supervision and at the direction of a nurse who will provide you with instructions.
