What is your first reaction to a new idea? For many people, their first reaction is to criticize it. But successful innovation doesn‚It’t work that way.For the creative process to be effective, it must strike a balance between creative thinking and critical thinking. Unfortunately, most people confuse critical thinking with criticism. Critical thinking is not just identifying what is wrong with an idea and stopping there. Critical thinking is carefully examining the strengths of an idea, imagining the potential implications of the idea AND considering the weaknesses of an idea.In this course, you will experience a critical thinking tool called Pluses, Potentials, Concerns, overcome concerns (PPCo) which is designed to help critically examine an idea for the purpose of strengthening the idea instead of knocking it down. You will see a Creative Problem-Solving team improve an idea using the PPCo method, and learn how a toy company uses the PPCo technique to get more ideas into their innovation pipeline.
