Electrostatic Discharge in Aviation (ESD)

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) is a sudden and momentary flow of electric current between two differently-charged objects when brought close together or when the dielectric between them breaks down, often creating a visible spark associated with the static electricity between the objects.

This course will familiarise learners with the potential hazards may be present in aviation as a result of ESD, and may affect the safety of personnel and equipment both in the air and on the ground.

Target Learners: Flight Crew, Ground Crew, Refuellers, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and Technicians and Safety officers.
