Electrical Safety: 05. Arc Flash

This Electrical Safety course goes into detail about Arc Flashes. You may be familiar with electric shock hazards - and have possibly experienced such a jolt. But the dangers of arc flashes are not so well known. In this program we talk about the tremendous power of an arc flash and how, coupled with an arcing fault, it can have a temperature that’s hotter than the sun’s surface. That isn’t something to be trifled with. This course covers the causes of an arc flash, the potential for incredible harm, and the steps you can take to prevent an occurrence.

The course covers the regulations put in place by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) relating to the prevention of arc flashes. We detail the necessary establishment of safe areas or approach boundaries, surrounding live equipment, and training and skill development for qualified employees working with electrical hazards.
