Down Syndrome is the most common genetic chromosomal disorder and cause of learning disabilities in children. There are approximately 400,000 individuals in the U.S. with this condition. Down Syndrome Awareness Month was founded to raise awareness about people living with Down syndrome. In this course, you’ll get an overview of the significance and history of Down Syndrome Awareness Month. You’ll also be introduced to influential people with Down syndrome who have made an impact on the world. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to identify ways to respectfully participate in this observation.
