Do You Have Any Questions for the Pharmacist? New OTC drug approvals

New OTC-status(Over the counter) drugs are often not extensively advertised or covered in continuing education. With patients able to buy these products without a prescription, pharmacists and technicians need to be knowledgeable about their role in therapy, potential adverse reactions, and interactions with current medications. This CE (Continuing Education) will discuss both novel drug approvals designated as OTC status and drugs which have been re-categorized from prescription to OTC status over the past 5 years. We will discuss each drug’s contraindications, side effects, counseling points, and role in self-care therapy. This will aid community and outpatient pharmacists and technicians in selecting the best self-care products for their patients.
