Controlling Operations for Middle Managers

Middle managers are involved in the strategies that relate to their department. They supervise and monitor employees, which is a key part of the roles they play. Middle managers also identify criteria for evaluating progress within the company as well as standards for assessment and performance appraisals from subordinates. The responsibility of middle management is not limited to these tasks, however; it includes establishing policies with regards to budgeting, purchasing supplies for production or service delivery purposes, managing inventory levels at all parts of an operation (not just storerooms), coordinating activities among departments such as human resources and finance.
