Conflict is normal in the workplace and often happens between two people of opposing generations. Often, conflict arises because one person has a different set of values from another. The older generation will generally have more experience and wisdom than younger employees who are trying to learn new skills during their first job. This can result in differences on how tasks should be completed as well as priorities for certain situations within the company that influence both parties’ behavior toward each other; this situation results in tension which ultimately leads to conflict sometimes without either party realizing it at first or being aware they’re engaging with someone else’s values versus their own value system.
