Building Relationships in the Community

This course is designed to assist law enforcement officers with building positive relationships with the communities they serve. While no police department is perfect, there are several ways officers can avoid community hostility by being proactive in their interactions. In this course, officer Ryan Tillman, founder of Breaking Barriers United, discusses how officers can learn from incidents that sparked national outrage like that of Ferguson, Missouri. He will explain the importance of relationship building and give you an overview of the various opportunities and events that you can utilize to develop positive rapport with community members. By the end of the course, you should be equipped with relationship-building techniques to improve yourself, your organization, and your communities.
