Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring silicate mineral fibers that have been used extensively in thermal insulation products, building materials, and vehicle brakes and clutches. Despite many of its desired unique properties in commercial and industrial uses, it has been determined that sustained exposure to elevated concentrations of airborne asbestos can lead to serious and potentially fatal health conditions. Some of these conditions can take 20 years or more to develop, therefore early detection and avoidance of asbestos is vital.
