Addressing Group Dysfunction

Ground rule setting is important because it will keep everyone on track with what they are discussing, and help them understand how much time they have left for discussion. Restatement helps by making sure that people are aware of what’s being said in an argument before bringing up another point or side. It also makes sure that no one person dominates the conversation too much, which can lead into reframing issues if someone has done something wrong to make others feel uncomfortable or excluded from the discussion.
