Manual Handling Healthcare: Peri-Operative

Manual handling involves tasks such as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, sliding or restraining a person or object. It is the most prevalent cause of injury in the hospital environment. A risk management approach is taken in regards to the health and safety of all staff in the peri-operative area. This Manual Handling Healthcare Peri-Operative course will highlight many of manual handling risks in the peri-operative area and will describe to your staff how they can decrease their risk of injury. Once the course is completed, you will have learnt how to perform the various lifts prevalent in the peri-operative area to make them relatively risk free, as well as how to use the various lifting aids available. This course is one part of and 6 part Manual Handling Healthcare series aimed at clinical and non clinical healthcare workers.
