Using Expectancy Theory

The expectancy theory is a way of understanding what motivates people to take action. Victor Vroom’s expectancy theory has three main areas: desires, beliefs, and outcomes. The first area looks at the person’s desire for achievement striving towards goals they have set themselves with their motivation coming from their drive rather than external sources such as rewards or punishments; Finally, there is the outcome which determines how much effort someone would put into something if they believed it was going to pay off in results (expectancy).
The expectation part comes in when you think about what might happen if I do not try my best- this fear could hinder me from doing anything due to lack of hope for Success Factors Vroom’s Theory of Expectancy instead thrives on the outcomes. Vroom suggests that the best motivation is to concentrate on the result of work as the ultimate goal.
