Kwanzaa (U.S.)

Kwanzaa comes from a Swahili phrase, matunda ya kwanza, which means ‚Äúfirst fruits.” It’s a time at the end of the year for African Americans to connect to their African roots. Learning about and celebrating different holidays is a way to foster inclusion, empathy, and allyship in both your work environment and community. In this course, you’ll receive an overview of the significance and origins of Kwanzaa. You’ll also be introduced to the seven symbols in the Kwanzaa display and the seven principles of Kwanzaa. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to identify ways to participate in the celebration.
