Carbon dioxide is what you exhale during the breathing process. So this odorless, colorless compound isn’t poisonous but there are dangers to avoid. In its gaseous state, carbon dioxide (CO2) displaces oxygen. Therefore, it can cause suffocation in high concentrations. In its solid state (dry ice) it can cause frostbite when in contact with the skin.
