Breaking Down Sexism

Breaking Down Sexism is an audio-only course. Despite recent advancements in gender equality, women are still regularly targeted by discrimination, hostility, bitterness, and shame. Why is this, and what can be done about it? This course is part of the Let’s Talk White Guys series, a collection of podcasts featuring conversations around racism, sexism, bad behavior, and privilege as a means to expand the “straight White male” perspective on responsibility and necessary change. In this course, you’ll hear from Jamie Winship, a former Washington D.C. police officer; Mike Robbins, an executive coach, author, and motivational speaker; and Tony Schwartz, founder and CEO of The Energy Project. Drawing from their experiences as White men, they discuss the cultural reasons women are often targeted, including the reasons so many men perpetuate gender discrimination. You’ll learn the lingering challenges of gender bias in the workplace and where these biases intercept with race. Finally, you’ll learn about the virtues traditionally seen as masculine and feminine ‚- and why an effective society needs both. After this course, you’ll have more insight into the issue of sexism and the steps that must be taken to fight it.
