The National Flood Insurance Program: Flood Insurance Overview

In the elearning course Flood Insurance Overview, we will review the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) that was created to assist the U.S. in dealing with the impact of flooding. In the course we’ll discuss the two statutes, the National Flood Insurance Act and the Flood Disaster Protection Act, which govern the NFIP, and discuss the escalating costs required by disaster relief from growing flood losses. Finally, we’ll talk about the goals of the NFIP, the coverage it offers, and discuss how community participation fits into the program.
