Proper order-taking is a critical part of a server’s job, so this elearning course, Serving Guests – Taking Orders, will share some strategies on how to do so correctly and efficiently. In this course we will look at how servers can take orders up to three times, for drinks, the meal and desert; how that can be a lot of orders across a shift to track. We will look at how to know when guests are ready to order, extra things you should note on the order and the necessity of using a notepad and pen for every order. Finally we will look at some tips for keeping track of orders by using numbering and short forms for common requests and review the necessity of understanding the menu.
