Microaggressions

Although we all know that overt racism, sexism, homophobia, and other problematic attitudes toward marginalized groups is wrong, many commit microaggressions without even realizing the harm they’re doing - something we address in this course, Microaggressions. Microaggressions reinforce underlying stereotypes of assumptions about a marginalized or minority group of people. Although the intent of microaggressions is not usually to cause harm, the reality is that they do just that. In this course, we will define microaggressions and look at the impact they have on groups of people. We will also talk about how to be more conscious and intentional in your own behavior, as well as how to respond to micro aggressive behavior in others.
