Right to Financial Privacy Act: Part 2

This course, Right to Financial Privacy Act: Part 2, follows up on the first course which discussed the processes for releasing account information to federal government agencies. That course outlined the actions and rights of all parties involved. Part 2 covers exceptions to rules included in the Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA) that protects financial records from being viewed. We also discuss the Patriot Act, BSA and AML which gives government agencies the right to view a facility’s customer records.

There are times when government-approved officials need to view financial records when investigating crimes such as drug trafficking, espionage, fraud and terrorism. That’s why exceptions to the RFPA were created - to protect financial records when necessary and allow release of them when required. Part of our Right to Financial Privacy Act series, this online course includes a concise video presentation and a downloadable reference document covering key points from the lesson.
