Regulation E: Changes in July 2010

Regulation E: Changes in July 2010 is an elearning course that defines what an overdraft service is and consumers’ rights pertaining to its use. This course discusses how Regulation E was amended to limit financial institutions from assessing overdraft fees for debit card transactions that overdraw a customer’s account. These changes took effect on July 1, 2010. In this course, we’ll define what kind of consent is required before a consumer uses an overdraft service, topics that must be covered in the disclosure, and the opt-in policy for joint accounts. It also features a few helpful sample scenarios to test your understanding of the rules.

Part of our series on Regulations, this course covers Regulation E – or The Electronic Funds Transfer Act. It includes a video with audio narration and downloadable materials. A quick quiz is provided to test retention of key takeaways.
