Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hearing Protection

When hearing protection is recommended, failure to comply can result in serious hearing problems. This course discusses high-level information on hearing PPE that’s often included in regulatory requirements. We will begin with a detailed but easy-to-understand lesson on how the ear is constructed and how it works to create the sensation of sound. You will learn how short-term exposure to intense noise and long-term exposure to lesser levels can both damage your ears, preventing them from working as they’re designed to do. You will discover how some machinery can generate sound intensities so high that workers experience hearing loss in less than 8 minutes – if they’re not wearing hearing PPE.
