Listening With Presence

When people think of meditation, they often think of deep concentration. But meditation is actually about cultivating a relaxed presence – an experience in which you release concentration and simply notice what’s occurring in the moment without judgment or distractions. This audio-only course is led by Rev. Dr. Ronné Wingate Sims, an ordained Baptist minister, speaker, teacher, and activist who creates culturally relevant healing spaces for those working through intergenerational and ongoing trauma. In this guided meditation, you’ll practice cultivating a relaxed presence by listening mindfully to the sound of a bell. You’ll alternate between listening with focus and listening with a relaxed state of mind to compare these two approaches. After this course, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what relaxed presence feels like in your mind and body.
