Respiratory System: Structure And Function

The respiratory system consists of the structures in our bodies that allow us to breathe. It is made up of the lungs and a collection of tubes and passages called the ‚“airway.‚” Decreased tissue elasticity, muscle mass, and immune system effectiveness associated with aging all contribute to decreased efficiency of ventilation and increased risk of respiratory infections.
